In the video Strange Brew – Short Clip of Zoot Suit Riot, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of hysterical Canadian actors who are responsible for “Great White North”, a improv which was included on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob McKenzie is created by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. Although brought to life originally as an idea to both fulfill and makes jokes about non sensical Canadian content statutes, the two morphed into a pop culture success in both Canada and the United States. The characters soon became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
