Bob and Doug McKenzie in Strange Brew – spitting contest

In the video Strange Brew – spitting contest, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of hysterical Canadian family members who created “Great White North”, a skit which was aired on SCTV for the show’s most watched season when it was featured on CBC Television in the 80’s. Bob is performed by actor Rick Moranis and Doug is brought to life by Dave Thomas. The bit was brought to life originally as fluff to both satisfy and make fun of dumb Canadian content statutes, the pair grew up to be a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the USA. The characters later became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
