In the video Strange Brew Tar Sands Trailer, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of odd Canadian siblings who are responsible for “Great White North”, a skit which was broadcast on second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it got sold to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s part is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is brought to life by Dave Thomas. The bit was brought to life originally as an idea to both please and make fun of silly Canadian content policies, the duo morphed into a pop culture success in both Canada and the US. The brothers became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
