In the video Strange Brew | What the Frick Reviews, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of strange Canadian family members who were featured in “Great White North”, a improv which was televised on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it aired by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s part is brought to life by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is created by comic Dave Thomas. The sketch was made originally as an idea to both follow guidelines and laugh about non sensical Canadian content guidelines, the characters morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and across the border. The pair soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
