Bob and Doug McKenzie in Suddenly, Seymour – Rick Moranis, Ellen Green VOSE

In the video Suddenly, Seymour – Rick Moranis, Ellen Green VOSE, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of made up Canadian actors who starred in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was featured on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it was featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s character is brought to life by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is performed by actor Dave Thomas. Despite created originally as fluff to both satisfy and make fun of legal Canadian content statutes, the characters transformed into a pop culture success in both Canada and across the border. The characters enetually would become the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
