Bob’s character is created by actor Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is created by actor Dave Thomas. It was developed originally as an idea to both satisfy and mock legal Canadian content rules, the duo morphed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the States. The characters soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
