Bob is performed by Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is played by Dave Thomas. Despite created originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh at network Canadian content demands, the two turned into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie brothers later became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
