Bob and Doug McKenzie in The 12 Days of Hoser Christmas

In the video The 12 Days of Hoser Christmas, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of strange Canadian actors who created “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was streamed on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most liked season when it was featured on CBC Television in the eighties. The character Bob McKenzie is brought to life by Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite brought to life originally as filler to both follow guidelines and laugh at silly Canadian content legislation, the siblings grew up to be a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The pair went on to become the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
