In the video The 12 Pains of Christmas (Music Video), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of fictional Canadian family members who can been seen in “Great White North”, a sketch which was featured on SCTV – second city television for the show’s third season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. Bob’s character is brought to life by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as an idea to both fulfill and mock silly Canadian content rules, the brothers transformed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the States. The characters later became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
