In the video The Babe Ruth Story John Candy SCTV Second City TV Television, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of fictional Canadian family members who hosted “Great White North”, a show which was televised on SCTV for the show’s most watched season when it was featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 80’s. Bob’s character is played by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by Dave Thomas. The bit was developed originally as a skit to both please and makes jokes about network Canadian content laws, the pair became a pop culture success in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie siblings soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
