Remember when Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis announced in the middle of a 2018 NFL game against the San Diego Chargers that he was quitting the team and retiring? Turns out, he was not the first person in Bills history to do that. In 1977, frustrated with his team’s performance in a game against the Seattle Seahawks, Bills head coach Jim Ringo announced at halftime that he was quitting. This is the story behind the head coach who quit in the middle of a game

  1. If I had a nickel for every time someone in the Bills organization quit in the middle of a game I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice

  2. And Shannon Sharpe says hag ba bubba buh white people suck. Ferguson had one of the best arms ever. Never had the full team. Then I believe it was Wilber Marshall almost killed him in Chicago.

  3. the same Jim Ringo who , (now this is an alledged story, but something I've read about), as a player for Green Bay, showed up with an agent to discuss a contract with Vince Lombardi, Lombardi, who hated player agents, excused himself to take a phone call, then returned to tell Ringo that he had just been traded to the Eagles

  4. I remember Greg Collins because he played for the Seahawks during our inagural season, he got cut from the seahawks because he was in a car accident on I-90 after leaving training camp in Cheney, WA (yes, not the most desirable town to be in during the summer) ….and he just happened to have the starting quarterback Jim Zorn with him when his car went off the road near Snoqualmie pass…Coach Jack Patera found out about the accident and cut Collins

  5. Don Criqui is a native Western New Yorker, so his opinion (love ATTITUDE like that in anyone) may be a bit personal.
Rick Azar, yeah, one of the local legends, along with Irv Weinstein & Tom Jolls. My mom served them at her restaurant often, and said Weinstein was a bit pompous, Azar was cool but polite, and Jolls was friendly (I don't know any TV types in North Florida, but my buddy's sister works for NBC JAX, so if I ever meet her…).

  6. Ironically, I was 9 & when I heard on the radio the next morning the score of the Bills/Seahawks game, I told my father that I was going to root for the Seahawks.

44 years later I still do..

  7. The amount of times you’re forced to say a laser rating and then ‘which is worse than if they just spiked the ball after every snap’ or whatever is getting to be too damn high. These QBS were just awful back in the 70s haha
