In the video The Dave Thomas Band, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of hysterical Canadian siblings who are responsible for “Great White North”, a segment which was aired on second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob’s partThe character Bob is performed by Rick Moranis and Doug is brought to life by Dave Thomas. The bit was created originally as a skit to both fulfill and make fun of dumb Canadian content laws, the pair transformed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the States. The McKenzie siblings went on to become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
