The character Bob McKenzie is acted by comic Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is acted by comic Dave Thomas. Even thoughFamously made originally as a joke to both satisfy and mock non sensical Canadian content demands, the siblings morphed into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the USA. The pair became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Part 2 at
Summer variety show consisting of comedy sketches featuring SCTV writer Dave Thomas and many other SCTV and SNL regulars.
Includes his impression (a minute and a half into this first part) of Michael Caine in a low-budget movie where he is the only survivor of a plane crash in the desert…don’t want to spoil it.
I recorded this on VHS video tape (kids, look that up on Wikipedia) in 1990. I just threw out all my remaining video tapes of self-recorded material except for things which I thought might be irreplaceable, like this.

Speaking of Michael Caine, "Blame it on Rio" is actually a very funny movie, and he is great. And there are other…er…good things about it.
…Johnny J. Folsom : Unknown Hinson…I member on SCTV Michael Caine had a Left hand transplant from an afric-American and faced everyday problems with racism…Lol!!!
In the same "Brilliant But Cancelled" category as The Ben Stiller Show and Mike O'Donaghue's "T.V." pilot.
That Johnny J Folsom song has haunted my dreams since I saw it as a kid.
when did dave make this show dave is like the coolest guy to meet if your a fan
Have been looking for that episode for years. Dave Thomas = wonderful comedy !
How did it take me 30 years to hear about this?
Thanks for posting, you Hoser.
Love this! His song reminds me of Jonathan Coulton’s “Christmas in Jail”, which makes sense considering his stuff is also very satirical and witty.
I can't find a download nor a site to purchase. I remember being a snot nosed 4-6 year old kid just ABSORBING this show!!! HELP!!!
@steverino47 You're very welcome!
I have been singing "Ma, I'm a-Comin" for over 20 years now, and have the vhs tape stored somewhere. Thanks for posting!!
@goonies3000 I'm agreeing with you, mate. 🙂
@goonies3000 LOL! They never do that! 😉
@goonies3000 Hmph, weird. IMDb lists John Candy being in the first episode. 🙁 Don't know what happened.
@goonies3000 I have no idea, is it in part 2 of this that I uploaded?
@roirraWedorehT Weird
@2packs Interesting, if I tried to reply using your whole name, Youtube would just respond "Error".
@2packs, You're very welcome!
@PresidentTommyShanks You're welcome! I know the feeling, regarding other things I've looked for over the years.
I have been waiting 20 years to see the Johnny J. Folsom sketch again.
THANKS !!
