Back when Canada still produced great musicians
Saw this band live in 1981 in Oakville ,Ontario at the Riverside bar unreal sound.
Saw him a few months ago in Meaford. It was the show you'd expect, with some surprises.
back in the days where singers actually sang
Don't rush me just this once
I want to make this moment last
Slow down the pace, there's no hurry
I can't let another pass me by again
Let me be the one to say when I've had enough
Just let me close my eyes, memorize
The way things are this minute
So when you're gone I can go on
If memory can hold on within it what I'm feeling
Should time try fading or stealing something away
Hold on, nothing's the same
Tell me why I feel this way
Life wouldn't be worth living without you
All along I've been the pretender
But now that's gone forever
Nobody's ever loved me like you do
Nobody's broken through
Got to concentrate, file away
Every last detail
Don't want to lose what's going down
I want to remember everything I'm feeling
Should time try fading or stealing something away
Hold on, nothing's the same
Tell me why I feel this way
Life wouldn't be worth living without you
All along I've been the pretender
But now that's gone forever, yeah
Nobody's ever loved me like you do
Nobody's broken through
Nobody's ever loved me like you do
Nobody's broken through
Nobody's ever broken through
Nobody's ever loved me like you do
Hold on, nothing's the same
Tell me why I feel this way
Life wouldn't be worth living without you
All along I've been the pretender
But now that's gone forever
Nobody's ever loved me like you do
I remember every time this came on TV as a kid, I thought the bass player looked like Keith Richards lol. Great that they brought Ian on his brother Dave's show. So rare to see any live footage of him from back in the day.
killer tight
Still a great phenomenal song after all these decades. It's still magical
I remember this Ian Thomas band performance on late night SCTV first time. These songs were on Canadian radio back-in-the-day and it all fit together. For the day it seemed Ian Thomas was having a resurgence of his musical fortunes long after Painted Ladies. A time once realized again when his song 'Levity' hit the charts in the early 90s.
Santana brought me here. Awesome song.
Both songs are just phenomenal
This is fantastic!!!!!!!!
SCTV had a lot of music acts. Hearing Pilot made this group the best of them all. What a song. An underrated gem.
The fact that they got a Mountie throwing out Johnny Larue btwn songs always cracks me up.!
Totally f'n AWESOME performances and LIVE !!!! love it
CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED
I really wish more people could see this to really understand that REAL, LIVE music can be such a beautiful thing… look at this, NO backing tracks…no bullshit… just REAL talented musicians playing and singing their asses off…am I wrong here?
I never knew that this song originated here, for more than 4 decades I thought it was Santana's tune.
Never heard of the name Ian Thomas until 10 minutes ago.
Great song by the way!
Great underrated Canadian talent . Highly reccomend his greatest hits CD . .. who's the keyboardist with the Groucho Marx eyebrows , LOL
The MOST UNDERR8D BAND EVER!!!! THAT'S XACTLY WHAT THE IAN THOMAS BAND IS!!!!! COMPLETELY UNDERR8D!!!!!
And those bongos!!!
Damn those harmonies. So obviously he isn’t the singer for Santana’s version. Shame.
Santana at 2:29.
Killer performance! Every time I hear those strat pops on Pilot, I can’t help but think that’s where Mike Post got the idea for the fills on the original Law And Order theme. Ian Thomas is a national treasure, and this band is tight AF.
Ah! Super sound!
i wish they had played 'painted ladies'; it's my favourite ian thomas song.
ian thomas is, in fact, dave thomas's brother.
Love this song. Didn't know this song existed until 3 days.
Throwing down on the bass. Fantastic
Saw his band regularly at the Coronet Motor Hotel in Kitchener on Victoria Street in early 70's. Great band, excellent drummer. I remember the drummer was in a beer commercial. Ian was a talented song writer. Lots of fights in crowd all the time.
3:08
Omg, the harmonies though!! Fantastic!
Wicked band. Such a depth of talent on one stage. Fabulous memories. Make some new ones people =D
And how did they get such great acts on SCTV? Classic comedy but fresh for its time my favoritest show ever.
BASS SUBLIME
This needed a Vic Hedges sax solo
Sooo great ! Really underrated singer !
Love the bass sound on Pilot….great song….nice solo work on guitar… a short version of Pilot. I wonder if Dave Thomas had a big part in getting his big brother a gig on this show…..I'm thinkin' Yep! Of course it's always a bonus when your big brother is actually real good so it wasn't a hard sell!
Great song, heard it first on SCTV rerun.
Wow they are better in concert than studio!
What's the name of the littler lead guitarist on the left. Was he in other bands?
Tight
