Bob and Doug McKenzie in The Luck of Rick Moranis

In the video The Luck of Rick Moranis, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of made up Canadian comedians who starred in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was included on second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it streamed by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 1980s. Bob’s part is performed by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is played by comic Dave Thomas. Despite developed originally as fluff to both please and mock silly Canadian content policies, the duo grew up to be a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie siblings soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
