Bob and Doug McKenzie in The McKenzie Brothers – Lonely Girl

In the video The McKenzie Brothers – Lonely Girl, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of made up Canadian comedians who created “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was featured on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most watched season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob’s part is created by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is performed by Dave Thomas. Although born originally as fluff to both please and laugh at non sensical Canadian content statutes, the characters morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and across the border. The McKenzie siblings soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
