Bob and Doug McKenzie in The McKenzie Brothers – Take Off, Eh!
In the video The McKenzie Brothers – Take Off, Eh!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of hysterical Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a skit which was broadcast on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most liked season when it braodcast by CBC Television in the year 1980. The character Bob McKenzie is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is played by comic Dave Thomas. Although brought to life originally as a skit to both follow guidelines and makes jokes about silly Canadian content guidelines, the pair grew up to be a pop culture success in both Canada and across the border. The McKenzie siblings became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Grew up in southern Louisiana, but watching these two hose heads as a kid started my lifelong fascination with Canada
We loved this show. My brother was the best Doug impersonator ever. God, I haven’t thought about this in years. Made toques fashionable overnight.
I didn't know these guys were such a phenomenon in Canada. They were funny. Such a long time ago.
56 yrs old, canadian and living in the states, i recently came across these hosers on you tube. when i was a kid living in canada, bob and doug were gods, they were the epitome of every young canadian male. they had an identity that stood for the celebration of being canadian and young. those were the best times of my life, hockey, beer, good food and knowing your friends wanted the same in life as you did at that age. i so miss it but these videos are a happy reminder to a life not complicated with whatever the media decided was relevant to us.
for decades I thought all Canadians were like this
I feel like this Canada has been lost to multiculturalism.
The way Jim parodied Canada made me immediately think of the McKenzie Brothers, yah, hey.
Crazy fucking Canadians, eh?
Did anyone else pickup on Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley being referred to as "Bob and Doug" when the US returned to space via Space-X in 2020?
was this created by chatGPT ??
Back when Canada used to be cool. The US used to be cool too. Not anymore.
I love these guys❤
Thank you Canada. I love the fact that wholesome humor came from my northern neighbors. These guys, Red Green and MANY MANY others have made me happy for decades. This American loves you all, God bless.
Yes, Virginia, Canada was once a white country. Fortunately, its government realized how evil this was and opened the country up to every well-to-do person of color. It also made it a crime to say the word "white" in the same sentence as "Canada."
Beauty Clark! For the bullets
What’s wrong with Canada? It’s got too many government rules regulations and laws that force Canadians to watch Canadian, listen to Canadian whether it’s any good or not.SCTV was a good example of a TV show that was worth watching. That’s why NBC grabbed it.Unfortunately considering the billions we’ve spent on can con we’ve got lots of duds and few successes.Leave it to successive Canadian Liberals governments to believe Canadians are victims of American TV ,radio and movies.
That's right im prov not ad lib
The order in Canada haha what order
I want to see Jordan Peterson guest star eh
Bring Bob and Doug back, eh?
I Want To Go To There !!!!!!!
For years Canadian was my favourite brew.

Rick went from this to getting beaten on a new York st for being a white guy eh.
Molson golden ale!!!!!
Born in 79 and didn’t like SCTV as a kid however, it was on a lot in my home then. Now, I love it!
The most Canadian thing about it is the crew members wearing plaid , denim and a cig hanging out of their mouths!
Bunch a goobers, all of them!
Bob & Doug, The Schmenge Brothers, and Lenny & The Squigtones. This is greatness on a whole other level.
I don't know why this showed up in my feed, but now I'm going to have to watch Strange Brew and see how much the SCTV series is on Amazon.
I remember listening to the album.
Now in onterrible all those people would be considered hostile terrorists, arrested off the streets.
I still have their album. Yes, vinyl, eh?
I'm from New York. Back in 2000, me & my cousins loved Strange Brew so much we couldn't stop with the "take off eh/hoser/youknob". The timelessness of these hosers is beauty eh?
This is the Great White North

Stubbies. Far easier to raise a mouse in, eh.
I hated news stories like these with CBC pushing some 'weird' identity on Canadians ….
I always wanted to see TMB work with Men Without Hats.
