Bob and Doug McKenzie in The New Show_02 Comedy 1984
In the video The New Show_02 Comedy 1984, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of fictional Canadian siblings who were featured in “Great White North”, a segment which was televised on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it moved to CBC Television in the 1980s. Bob’s partThe character Bob is brought to life by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is created by actor Dave Thomas. The brothers soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Sketch comedy show from 1984 starring Carrie Fisher, Dave Thomas, Buck Henry, etc. Transferred from my old VHS tapes lying in my garage for the last 35 years.

I liked the Frightened Family skit
I had this episode on VHS for many years. Thank you for uploading!
Do you have the ending for this episode where the cast are at the end saying goodbye like the other videos for this show!!
Awful. What a waste of talent.
Steve Martin kills that Billie Jean video.
This show was awful, but my older sister loved Steve Martin! We watched this for the few episodes it was on. Wish I was 9 and 10 again!
Magnificent
Too bat the "Roy's Food Repair skit got cut early, but the whole thing can bee seen here: https://youtu.be/JCxscU0hWok
This was great, but it made me sad, seeing Gilda Radner again. I was so heartbroken for Gene, when she passed.
Was that orson wells?
Holy Moley! Penny Marshall!
10:22 someday I will tell my children that this was Rod Stewart
SNL during the 80's was awful about 95% of the time. This show THE NEW SHOW was excellent. It was a real breath of fresh air because it was like watching lost episodes of the original SNL Couldn't believe the viewing public ignored it and it got cancelled.
Can't believe that guy started Wendy's…
the quaid brothers?
They were really going for a Jackie Gleason/Honeymooners feel with that narrated intro and theme music, weren't they?
That's kind of an odd choice. They used to parody that kind of stuff on SNL and one of the rules was that they weren't supposed to write sketches like an episode of The Lucy Show or anything from the 1950s!
I still have this on VHS from April 1984 ♥️
How the hell did I not know about this, and I remember "Big City Comedy"!
Do you have the episode that guess starred The New Edition? If so please share…
The greatest mystery of all time. How could a show that combined the giants of SCTV and classic SNL last only a few episodes?
Wow – all those famous folks and I have NO recollection of this show, and I was totally into SCTV and SNL.
You've done a great service to the public uploading this show. Many of the best sketches all in one.
Never heard of this but I remember the scare sketch lol
That pam ad was real? Thought it was a joke…
Dude, I remember this show , 11yrs old , sure i watched all of them. The frightend family skit and John Candy as the food repair guy.
The cast was aways big names.
Wow! Great upload. We can also You Tube Penny Marshall's appearance on Late Night with David Letterman on this same date because she was in the same studios to do this very show. She talks about the first bit, if I remember correctly. This has been a timely upload as 2018 sees the death of Penny Marshall and two years since Carrie Fisher died and the retirement of Paul Simon.
This is cool. Thanks for uploading
Do you have any more of these?
