In the video The Real Reason Rick Moranis Disappeared From Hollywood George M Churchill Analyzes, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of made up Canadian siblings who hosted “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was broadcast on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is played by actor Dave Thomas. It was made originally as fluff to both please and make fun of non sensical Canadian content statutes, the siblings turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. The brothers became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
