  1. I answered this as "Healing Ambient Music" but I thought I would post a comment again from my voiceover channel:
It's a tough call (and somewhat of a tough subject on which to comment). Although every individual does essentially make their own choice(s), of course, by the same token, If someone has a special ability to help people – especially if it's actually VERY unique (and Rick's talent Is) then I believe we have somewhat of responsibility or maybe even a "calling" to follow that path (even if it's uncomfortable for us).

An example could be if you are a Pavarotti. You may want to "give up singing because you just feel like you rather be taking care of your kids…" however, because it's such a rare gift and touches people in very special ways, artistically, aesthetically etc., I believe one has a bit of a duty to follow that path (comfortable or uncomfortable).

As I mentioned at the beginning of this comment, it's a tough subject – we do have our own proclivities and decisions to make about our lives. But sometimes, in a sense, our lives are "not our own."

This reminds me of my favorite quote from one of my favorite films of all time (Cloud Atlas) (The quote is from the book from which the film is based) “Our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.”

Even though Moranis might not see it (or see it this way) weighing importances, I truly believe he should have used has gift and continued acting on-camera (being a voiceover actor myself for a living, aside from my music, I'll tell ya, even though V/O is a skill, a LOT more people can do voiceovers yet, not NEARLY as many have the ability to do what he did on camera!).

I hope you wakes up soon and offers us again of what he is amazingly capable!

  3. this is a late comment, but i've grew up with rick moranis films, and he truly is one of my favorite actors. especially knowing that he quit acting to be with his kids after his wife died is just inspiring, and to hear/see some of his interviews and articles makes me love this guy more. hope he is well and his family too.

  4. Comeback Rick, we loved your acting.
Sorry to hear that you were attacked in NYC. In the future always be aware of your environment. Looking forward to your return to acting.

  5. I have a lot of respect for the guy. I love all his movies…Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Little Giants are the ones I grew up watching and still love to this day. Fun fact is that Moranis originally wasn't going to be in Little Giants…Gary Busey was offered the role of the well known Danny O Shea character. That would've been interesting considering Busey was in practically almost every film back in the 80s and 90s. I'm exaggerating of course.
