Batman is a 1989 superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name that was such an anomaly at the time by completely redesigning and reimagining whole parts of Batman’s established canon.
The film was directed by Tim Burton and stars Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton, Kim Basinger, Robert Wuhl, Pat Hingle, Billy Dee Williams, Michael Gough, and Jack Palance.
1989’s Batman laid the groundwork for the modern superhero film and all of the marketing surrounding them but also set off a number of other comic book movies to be made at the time.

Wow! My grandmother described the optical problem you pointed out about the bat emblem! I never knew more people had that issue!
It’s definitely bat cannon
Batman 1989 is the real batman the hype was real from that time not like today fake batman modern movies
Jack Nicholson absolutely killed it as the Joker in a generational definitely role, but DAMN John Glover would have been absolutely mind blowing.
My best friend Joey and I got sneak preview tickets for Batman ‘89. We were already obsessed with Batman and the movie just made it worse. Our lives were all about Batman and Gn’R. Lol
That editors note lol
Premiered on June 23rd, and parents took me to see it on June 24th for my 5th birthday. And Bats has been my #1 favorite comic hero ever since.
Thanks Munk Pack!
Cool
Solid piece on the movie. But it was Die Hard that changed casting perspective about a regular looking dude taking on action hero status.
You should say "created by Bill Finger and that other credit stealing jerk"
your voice, set, and music production is all garish
hey man, thanks so much for covering the 80's nostalgia like no other. Love it, you rock sir.
I remember my dad taking me to see it. The opening credits seemed to last forever but when the bat symbol finally came into view, I knew it was going to be awesome. Spoiler alert, Batgirl was canceled and the flash bombed despite Keaton returning.
Keaton is GOAT Batman
I feel like a lot of people I talk to these days forget that Keaton was a controversial casting choice for Batman. But, then again, I think every time they get a new Batman, there seems to be some controversy over it.
Oooh! Do a CW Crisis on Infinite Earths video!
Affleck doesn't get enough love for his time as Batman. He actually did great. It seems like Bale is the only actor not to get chewed up for a Batman performance.
This is my all time favorite Batman film one of my all time favorite superhero movies of all time and now 31 years later we get the return of Keaton's batman
The multiverse trash was trash when it was introduced, it's still trash, and it'll keep being trash. I really hope DC in particular leans harder into Elseworlds and other sorts of one-offs.
Best channel on YouTube and it isn’t even close.
The Nolan movies were overrated POS and Snyder is an uneducated untalented idiot. Burton's movies were exceptionally well made. Basinger, the Batmobile, and Nicholson were perfect. Im not a big fan of Batman but Keaton and Burton just sold it well and is second only to the 1977 animated series in terms of fun.
Still my favorite Batman. I didn’t see it opening knight, but I did catch it in the theaters. My ten-year-old-self thought it was the dopest thing he’d ever seen on the big screen.
Can you imagine: 1983, Harrison Ford as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Anthony Hopkins as Alfred, Clint Eastwood as Commissioner Gordon, Jack Nicholson as Joker, Michael Douglas as Riddler, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Catwoman.
Tim Curry got booted as the Joker twice?!?
Brutal
I really thought this movie was R rated.
This is the first time in nearly 39 years on this planet that I’ve heard of this mouth thing with the Batman logo
I went years thinking I was the only one who saw the teeth when I first saw it!
yeah I'll admit it… never liked the Chris Nolan movies…felt they were extremely overrated…were they good cop dramas? Sure…but were they good Batman movies? No I will continue to say they were amoung some of the worst Batman movies, only props I'll give is Heath Ledger Joker (I mean like everyone else I am sure) everything else was either bad or forgettable
I'm from the future. While the flash is still due to come out, Batgirl has been wiped clean from the earth for tax write off purposes.
I would've loved Tim Curry as the joker or as a batman villain in general. We were robbed
Bad Batman movies are like bad pizza, at the end of the day bad pizza is still pizza! Just like bad Batman is still Batman.
