In the video The Twelve Days of Christmas, Ireland 1971, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of made up Canadian family members who hosted “Great White North”, a program which was shown on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it got sold to CBC Television in the year 1980. Bob’s character is brought to life by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is acted by Dave Thomas. The sketch was developed originally as an idea to both please and make fun of dumb Canadian content rules, the pair grew up to be a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the USA. The McKenzie siblings went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
