Bob’s part is brought to life by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by Dave Thomas. Despite created originally as fluff to both satisfy and make fun of dumb Canadian content demands, the two morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the States. The pair soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
