funny hey guys welcome back and here’s
the clumsy Jedi doing another film
review today we’re here in 1989 fantasy
/ comedy / family film honey i shrunk
the kids it was directed by joe johnston
and starred rick moranis matt frewer
marcia straussman christine sutherland
thomas wilson Brown Jared Robinson Amy
O’Neill and Robert oliveri these two
kids live in this very normal house with
a very normal family although the father
seems to have an unhealthy obsession
with fishing these other two kids boy
and girl live in a very unusual house
with the father with a very unusual
profession which is he’s an inventor and
he’s invented the shrinking machine
naturally you can see where this is
going all four kids get shrunk
accidentally thrown out and they have to
navigate their way back to the house
through the jumble of a backyard and
somehow get their parents attention even
though they’re only at one-quarter inch
tall this is a pretty silly movie its
got fun moments most people I think like
it for the nostalgia factor my favorite
part would this was Rick Moranis because
I think honestly I think the honey
movies are his best roles I don’t really
like him anything else he plays the
wacky scientist / loving father very
well and he nails the role and I don’t
know how he does it but he does and he’s
very funny the rest are they felt kind
of flat I mean even the mom is kind of
overacted I know it’s probably none for
comedy’s sake but what I disliked most
about honey i shrunk the kids was even
the neighbor kid
is obsessed with baseball and keeps
making these um elaborate booby traps
that kid what a pain in the butt what
needs to happen with that kid is the
roll of duct tape when it comes to
family friendliness mostly it has some
mild language nothing extreme i would
say eight year olds would probably love
it seven or eight year olds if they
could put up with the old technology the
story was at that average yeah it was
pretty good it was ok so i give it a
seven out of ten the acting was about
average some of it was really good
summit it was not so good so i’m going
to be generous and give the acting a 7
out of 10 the script was that again
average so kids SF have done the humor
it was funny it was good for some
chuckles no belly laughs but there were
chuckles throughout so I’d give it an
eight out of ten music it was done by
james horner it fit very well so it gets
an eight out of ten cinematography it
was pretty good I’ll especially like the
shots on the back of the B and the point
of view shots when they’re really tiny
I’m not really sure how they did that
especially with the real landscapes and
not just the oversized sets but it was a
little bit above average so I’d give it
an eight out of ten so that makes the
overall clumsy Jedi score for honey i
shrunk the kids seven point five out of
ten a little above average but not quite
though so that’s been my review of
1989’s honey shrimp of kids in a couple
minutes i’m going to be reviewing
another 80s movie maybe the last month
when I list maybe not a short circuit so
until then this is the corpse of Jedi
