Bob and Doug McKenzie in “There’s always jobs in Toronto!” – John Candy on SCTV

In the video “There’s always jobs in Toronto!” – John Candy on SCTV, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of strange Canadian brothers who created “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was introduced on SCTV for the show’s third season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. The character Bob McKenzie is played by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by comic Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was created originally as a sketch to both fulfill and mock non sensical Canadian content statutes, the two turned into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and America. The characters later became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
