Bob and Doug McKenzie in Thor’s Top Canadian Movies

In the video Thor’s Top Canadian Movies, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of made up Canadian actors who starred in “Great White North”, a sketch which was introduced on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it was featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. The character Bob McKenzie is performed by comic Rick Moranis and Doug is acted by comic Dave Thomas. The bit was brought to life originally as a skit to both please and makes jokes about annoying Canadian content laws, the characters grew up to be a pop culture hit in both Canada and the United States. The brothers went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
