In the video Toastmasters Robert Barnhill becomes Honorary Canadian & Hoser, Eh!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of hysterical Canadian brothers who starred in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was featured on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it aired by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob McKenzie is brought to life by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug is played by Dave Thomas. Even thoughFamously brought to life originally as filler to both fulfill and laugh about dumb Canadian content guidelines, the pair grew up to be a pop culture hit in both Canada and the United States. The two enetually would become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Jana and Robert (Bob) Barnhill International President and Past Int’l Pres respectively, visited Toastmasters D42 (Saskatoon Saskatchewan) in May 2009. Of course Jana got all the attention so Robert felt a little left out. So District Governor Elect Tim Hubick decided that he would do something about it so he asked LGET Elect Greg Gazin (aka Doug McKenzie, Hoser) – to be the impromptu grammarian and help Robert with his Canadiana and in the meantime induct both Jana and Robert as Honorary Canadians. Beauty! Take Off Eh! And anything for free beer! A fun time was had by all!
