Bob and Doug McKenzie in Tommy Chong’s 12 Days of Christmas

In the video Tommy Chong’s 12 Days of Christmas, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of strange Canadian actors who starred in “Great White North”, a program which was aired on SCTV for the show’s third season when it got sold to CBC Television in the year 1980. Bob is performed by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is played by comic Dave Thomas. The sketch was developed originally as a sketch to both satisfy and make fun of legal Canadian content laws, the pair grew up to be a pop culture success in both Canada and across the border. The characters became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
