The holiday season is upon us. Part and parcel of the celebration is our tendency to indulge a little more than usual in lots of festive fare… including a fair amount of the Christmas ‘spirit(s)’.

Of all the many parodies and re-makes of the traditional Christmas carol, “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, perhaps the one most associated with the bright lights of Las Vegas was Fay McKay’s delightfully humorous rendition of “The Twelve Daze of Christmas”, for which she became known not only on the casino lounge stages of the Vegas ‘strip’ but on those around the world. Donning the persona of the intoxicated recipient of twelve successive days of alcoholic beverages and cocktails from her admiring beau.

So although we must try always to keep in mind the reason for the season, especially for holidays of religious significance like Christmas, it’s always spirit-lifting to have a good laugh and, within reason, to partake in a glass or two of our favorite holiday spirit.
