Carlins early material was pretty good but this impression nails the hacky wordplay carlin used to have in his act.
Are there any other clips of Rick Morans doing this impression or is this the only time he did it?
I love Carlin and Moranis.
Wow. It's perfect. He even ran offstage like Carlin did.
Why
Why can I not find any more clips of Moranis as Carlin? Is this literally all there is? There needs to be so many more!
Well, that did him a favour.
Wiiild
I laughed harder at this than ibever did at george
Remember, Carlin was heavy into Coke (the powder) at this time, the early 80s. It wasn't just Moranis' impression that snapped him out of it.
He recalled listening to himself rambling on stage performing on a binge and realizing that he wasn't being funny. He also had a major heart attack..
It was shaky, but that “Beets me” was dead on.
More Moranis as Carlin: "How come stairs either go up…or they go down. Why are there no sideways stairs?"
I love George Carlin, but this sketch does kinda nail him, on some level lol

Rick Moranis's George Carlin is spot-on
I love that he had “You’ve been a marvelous audience, good night” on a card 🙂
It may not be the most flattering impression, but at least he captures all of Carlin's beets.
The beet goes on…
Genius.
Great impression of George Carlin.
Man I never knew Rick Moranis peaked THIS early…
i'm surrounded by assholes.
george carlin is one of my favorite comedians number 2 all time behind richard pryor but this is hilarious also grapes grapes grapes ooooh and george said later on that it was funny.
I thought this was fucking hilarious. I guess he changed George? so I should thank him._.
It's funny that Carlin was so affected by this, but it doesn't take away his genius as a comedian. And Moranis later apologised as he never intended to insult him – according to IMDB anyway.
Goerge Carlin was a mindless old bag of rehydrated vomit
thank you for posting this
ha ha, that's pretty amazing actually considering the length
amazing
So this is why Carlin's later material was so much better.
devastating? wow that guy was emotionally fragile.
– Go on stage
– Swear
– Act like people you don't agree with philosophically are idiots
– Call yourself a comedian.
Carlin in a nutshell.
Carlin is a genius. Moranis is a moron. Nuff said.
Hilarious
In his book Last Words, Carlin called Moranis's impression of him devastating. He lists it as one of the things that inspired him to change his act.
Rick wishes he was Carlin. Period.
This…is….genius.
Kevin Smith brought me here.
His wife died and a few years later he retired. He says he's enjoying been retired and won't go back to movies.
dude, i never knew rick moranis did a spot on george carlin impression
