The character Bob McKenzie is performed by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is acted by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as a sketch to both please and mock silly Canadian content demands, the brothers transformed into a pop culture success in both Canada and across the border. The characters soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
