I've always loved that Latin edge of The Mavericks. Their music is extremely fun. You are right, I never thought of them as country even though they are always classified as such. If anything, they have more of the Bakersfield sound than the Nashville sound. I'll definitely add The Blues Project to my want list, it sounds quite interesting being psych-blues. I haven't seen Shriekback shown much in the VC much except for Brian's 12" single, great choice.
