Bob’s character is brought to life by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by Dave Thomas. It was brought to life originally as filler to both follow guidelines and mock stupid Canadian content policies, the two grew up to be a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the US. The two soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
