Bob and Doug McKenzie in Walter Cronkite Escapes from the Planet Krypton – 1981

In the video Walter Cronkite Escapes from the Planet Krypton – 1981, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of imaginaryfunny Canadian actors who can been seen in “Great White North”, a segment which was featured on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it braodcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. The character Bob McKenzie is acted by actor Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is played by Dave Thomas. It was created originally as a sketch to both fulfill and mock stupid Canadian content statutes, the siblings became a pop culture sensation in both Canada and across the border. The characters soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
