Bob and Doug McKenzie in Walter DeBarr and Dave Thomas

In the video Walter DeBarr and Dave Thomas, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of made up Canadian siblings who created “Great White North”, a show which was broadcast on second city television for the show’s third season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 1980s. Bob’s part is performed by comedian Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was made originally as a joke to both please and mock dumb Canadian content rules, the two transformed into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the USA. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
