Bob McKenzie is played by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was created originally as an idea to both satisfy and makes jokes about silly Canadian content policies, the duo transformed into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the States. The pair went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
