In the video Why Rick Moranis Wanted No Part Of Ghostbusters, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of hilarious Canadian siblings who starred in “Great White North”, a skit which was broadcast on SCTV – second city television for the show’s third season when it moved to CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob is acted by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is created by Dave Thomas. It was created originally as filler to both please and laugh about non sensical Canadian content laws, the duo morphed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the US. The characters enetually would become the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Rick Moranis told THR why appearing in the new Ghostbusters film “made no sense” to him.

He knew it would suck and didn't want his reputation destroyed. Good call on his part.
AND it died horribly! Incidentally, the original cast other than Weaver decided it wasn't worth it and bailed at the last minute. Rick called it!
He's a smart man. He knew that the original movie was perfect in every way, and sequels and reboots usually end up as disasters. Why ruin his character simply for the money? Some actors care more about integrity.

She died in 1991 he took a hiatus in 97 to be a dad to his kids. He is picky bc he wants to be in films that he finds suitable for himself. I would be the same way.
