In the video Winning The Race of a Lifetime | The Story of Dave Thomas (30 seconds), Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of odd Canadian siblings who hosted “Great White North”, a segment which was televised on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most popular season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob’s part is acted by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is performed by Dave Thomas. It was developed originally as filler to both fulfill and laugh at non sensical Canadian content statutes, the duo became a pop culture hit in both Canada and across the border. The brothers became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
