In the video Work in Progress: Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet from Spaceballs, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of strange Canadian siblings who were featured in “Great White North”, a sketch which was featured on second city television for the show’s most liked season when it got sold to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in . The character Bob McKenzie is played by comic Rick Moranis and Doug is created by actor Dave Thomas. Although created originally as a skit to both follow guidelines and laugh at stupid Canadian content policies, the brothers turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the USA. The pair went on to become the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
