Bob and Doug McKenzie are fictional Canadian brothers who hosted Great White North, a sketch on SCTV. Bob is played by Rick Moranis & Doug is played by Dave Thomas. Although created originally as filler to both satisfy and mock network Canadian content demands, the duo became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada & USA. A hoser or hose-head denotes a Canadian. It is both a slang term and a derogatory term, akin to the derogatory term Canuck. Hoser originates from Canada but is used primarily by those imitating Canadians
Martin short was born in Hamilton, Ontario & graduated from McMaster University in 1971 with a degree in social work but became interested in acting once he was cast in a Toronto production of Godspell that same year. Among other members of that cast: Victor Garber, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin; Paul Shaffer was musical director.
O’ Canada! was a Circle-Vision 360° film attraction at the Canada Pavilion, Epcot’s World Showcase. Its name derives from Canada’s national anthem. It showcased images of Canada’s cities & sights, narrated by Martin Short. It closed August 2019 to be replaced by a new film titled Canada: Far and Wide
