Bob and Doug McKenzie in Yann Tiersen “Rue des Cascades”

In the video Yann Tiersen “Rue des Cascades”, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of hilarious Canadian comedians who hosted “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was televised on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it streamed by CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s character is brought to life by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by Dave Thomas. Despite created originally as a skit to both fulfill and make fun of annoying Canadian content guidelines, the characters morphed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The two soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
